GLEE S1E1

Cheerios

GLEE starts of with the typical high school cheerleader practice. McKinley High's team is called the CHEERIOS and they are internationally well known. They are coached by Sue Sylvester. The Cheerios's leader is Quinn Fabray, who is teen royalty at McKinley. Everyone on the Cheerios wears the Cheerio uniform. The image below is an image of Quinn in her very own red and white outfit.

The Kiwi and I were watching GLEE last night, and she asked why the cheerios wear their uniforms all of the time. I think this answer is simple to anyone with a little fashion sense: the outfit is cute, comfortable, and most importantly it distinguishes you as teen royalty. I'll interview Ang about what it feels like to be in a cheerleader uniform 24/7 in my next blog. Until then, the Cheerios remain in their cute little outfits in neat ponytails. My only complaint is that none of the Cheerios wear ribbons. If i were a Cheerio, I would wear a red ribbon to hold up my pony every day.

Mr. Shuester

Mr. Shue shows up in his blue little run down car, in once upon a time dark jeans that are now faded, white button down, red/blue stripped tie and a fugly ass brown suit jacket.

Lets break down his outfit:

1) Faded dark jeans: Why hello Mr. Shuester, i really hope it was casual Friday at work. Faded jeans? Really? I know you want to be comfortable, but as a teacher i think it important to think about the image that comes across to the students. Faded jeans say "hey, i am one of you," while a pair of slacks say "I am your instructor." I definitely frown down upon your pant choice for the pilot Guillermo.

2) I am cool w the white button down.

3) Tie: Does anyone else think that tie is hideous? Lets ask a better question, does anyone think that tie isn't hideous? I think he should have gone with a skinny tie, and gone for a solid red rather than a stripped blue and red. We're in the 2010's now Mr. Shue, not the 1980's. I think the red tie would contrast perfectly against those faded jeans and that ugly brown jacket.

4) THE UGLY BROWN JACKET. The jacket looks like a little brown carpet monster who climbed on William Shuester's beautiful male body and decided to keep him warm. I know youre trying to be retro Will, but you look a little too much like Mr. Brady in that jacket.

How would I improve your outfit Mr. Shue?

Red skinny tie, Navy Suit Jacket, Navy pants, and lose the wedding ring.

Mr. Ryerson

Sandy is just the creepiest creeper in McKinley. He's even creeper than Creeper McCreeperson himself. Of course the creepiest character in GLEE must have quite fabulous outfits. Yes, I am indeed being sarcastic. A man who wears that much pink is either gay or really really comfortable with his masculinity. I am going to guess that Sandy's gay. He collects dolls, and has too many cats to be a straight man. Also, someone needs to tell him that the sweater over the shirt is only acceptable for dying white men in country clubs.

Sue Sylvester

Sue Sylvester is the picture perfect image of elegance, grace, power, dignity and of course beauty. Sue looks like a lion in her black Adidas track suit, doesnt she? The brown pallet eye shadows create that perfect undertone/skin blend that every woman desires, and her lips are the perfect shade of red for her skin complexion. I also love her layered short haircut that allows her to be flexible, and masculine in a feminine way. lol okay, Sue's outfit totally say "Hey, I am better than all of you because I dont try hard and I still beat all of you suckers." Would I personally wear a track suit around campus? Absolutely not. Track suits come off as sloppy to me, and way too masculine which is a look that Mariel does not find attractive. Kind of ironic isn't it? Sue Sylvester, a "sloppy baby."

Mercedes Jones

Purple looks great on Mercedes! I love that she layers her clothes to prevent showing too much, which can totally be a problem with V-necks. However, wtf was she thinking wearing a gold jacket? Also, that hat is horrible. Love the dark jeans, which totally compliment her figure and the purple top. I think she should have taken the jacket off, and that hat also. She should have pinned back her hair, or straightened it. For her first outfit, I'd give her at 7/10.

Kurt:

Not impressed by this outfit, but in this particular Glee audition scene what should and was highlighted was his AMAZING voice. I was however impressed by his new collection Mark Jacobs double zip blue jacket in the beginning of the episode. That jacket, is definitely to die for. Does he look adorable in it?

Tina C

Tina C is described by the costume designers of Glee to be "Goth Geek." Well, that's definitely something I can agree on. Her use of Blacks, Dark Blues, and Dark purples as well as added metallic accessories most definitely makes her "goth." However, Tina C is soo unfashionable that she manages to ruin a perfectly good outfit by adding silly accessories such as those hideous beanies on her head. I know Glee is set in Ohio, and Ohio is supposedly cold, but you never see the Cheerios wearing anything as disc gusting as those "beanie" things. Ew?
